| March 25, 2013 OR April 4, 2013 EFM Certification Review: Part 1 By the end of the one-day conference, the participant should be able to: • List the six physiologic mechanisms in which oxygen flow to the fetus may be compromised. • Define the differences between metabolic and respiratory acidosis. • Define fetal heart rate accelerations, decelerations, and baseline changes utilizing the National Institute of Child Health and Development Task Force (1996). • Define uterine activity assessment utilizing the National Institute of Child Health and Development Task Force (2008). • Review the NICHD 2009 Categories for EFM Patterns • List possible EFM pattern changes and appropriate interventions in response to common complication. • Discuss adjunct fetal assessment techniques used to assess fetal well being. • Discuss the implications and importance of documentation, standards of care, and hospital policies. List possible EFM pattern changes and appropriate interventions in response to common complication citing physiologic rationale. Discuss the implications and importance of documentation, standards of care, and hospital policies. | MEETING INFORMATION: The Trowbridge Building is across from the ER. There is free parking in the front of the building, but is somewhat limited. Try and carpool. Visitor spaces have a maximum of 90 minutes, so avoid those parking places and park in unmarked spaces. A 45-minute lunch break will begin at 11:45. Luncheon is not provided in the registration fee.
